DISTANCE CLINICAL SUPERVISION: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

This program will provide an overview of supervisor and supervisee rapport in distance supervision; security and confidentiality strategies; and ethical and legal issues, including recordkeeping. Participants will also receive a list of resources available to support supervisors providing distance clinical supervision.

SCHOOL-BASED FAMILY COUNSELING: IMPLEMENTING ADVENTURE BASED COUNSELING IN SCHOOLS

Experiential counseling techniques such as adventure based counseling use structured group activities that emphasize cooperation and increase adolescents’ self-esteem and interpersonal skills, which are typical goals of school counseling programs. This presentation examines the usefulness of adventure based counseling programs in school settings, focusing particularly on school-based family counseling.

BREATHWORK AND MINDFULNESS: MIND-BODY APPROACHES TO COUNSELOR SELF-CARE

The counseling profession is deeply rewarding and remarkably challenging. Mindfulness and breathwork offer valuable tools for
counselors to refill the well in terms of self-care and personal growth. This experiential program will balance informing participants of breathwork and mindfulness basics while also giving plenty of space for practice and discussion.

All members of Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) are invited to attend this statewide meeting of CSI chapters. The meeting will begin with training on CSI International website resources and a review of policies for chapter websites and social networking groups.
Participants will then break into one of four small groups for faculty, chapter officers, student members, and professional members. Group facilitators will guide discussions of individual chapter progress and inter-chapter collaboration.

BUILDING THERAPEUTIC ALLIANCE THROUGH RATIONAL EMOTIONAL-COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is an active-directive approach to helping clients overcome problems and adversities. It is often considered to lack conditions that foster therapeutic relationships (i.e., empathy, unconditional positive
